Thanks buddy! But put that out!

There are times I wonder who in the hell is actually doing the thinking over there at the Pentagon.  Admittedly, those times have been constant for the past decade but still, this is outrageous, even for the Pentagon:

A new study commissioned by the Pentagon and the Department of Veterans Affairs recommends a complete ban on tobacco, which would end tobacco sales on military bases and prohibit smoking by anyone in uniform, not even combat troops in the thick of battle.

Dear U.S. Soldier,

We know that the only reason the majority of you joined the military is because you couldn’t get a decent enough paying job in the public sector and now you have been pulling multiple tours in places 1 out of 2 Americans can’t even point out on a map.  The phrase that used to get you fired up was “9/11″ but now it’s “stop-loss”, and to be frank, I’m sure the anger rushes for completely different reasons.  Sorry about that.

Anyhow, we wanted to share some new happenings with you.  We know that you are sweating it out in places so desolate and unforgiving that they make the Death Star look like a B & B, and that the only respite you have are the times spent with the band of brothers around you after a hard day’s fighting.  To get your mind off the senseless fighting, the exhaustion, the death, and the yearning for your loved ones at home, you could light up a cigarette and enjoy maybe the one damn good thing about your time serving your country.

Well, you can’t smoke anymore.  Keep up the good work.  We love you even though we covered Michael Jackson’s death here in more detail than all of your fallen brother’s deaths since 2001.  God Bless America!
