Well “Insanity” Needs To Go To Jail Then

I know this looks like a crime but...

What the fuck is wrong with the world we live in when this statement is allowed to be written:

Vince Li has been found not criminally responsible for the unprovoked killing and beheading of fellow passenger Timothy McLean on a Greyhound bus last summer.

Huh? Operative words being: not responsible, unprovoked killing and beheading. It’s a another example of human beings creating a system where accountability is thrown out the window.

That means he will be sent to a provincial psychiatric facility rather than to prison. He comes under the jurisdiction of Manitoba’s provincial review board, which will decide whether he poses a risk to the public. The review board has the power to keep Li locked up indefinitely or, if he is no longer considered a risk, discharge him.

Sorry that your son was decapitated and partially eaten for no reason at all by that man, but the actual reason he did it was because God told him to… sooooooo basically how it works is that if God tells someone to do something, it kind of negates all human law. But we are going to observe him for a while and then probably let him go once he seems good to go. Poor little guy, huh?

Discharge him? Wait, what?!?! Shouldn’t it be, “Discharge right into a fucking maximum security prison”? Even though the killer said, “I’m guilty. Please kill me.” AFTER being subdued, we’re the species who finds a reason to let someone who decapitated and ate someone else, the ability to roam the streets in a few months BECAUSE he was INSANE at the time of the murder. Ah, what wonderful logic.

I’m sure the fact that he said, “God told me to do it.” made all the heaven chasers “feel bad” for him. Nice work. Somewhere Kaiser Soze is chuckling.

While I feel for Mr. Li because he has voices in his head and living that kind of life has to blow ass, I am not comfortable living in a world where schizophrenics can cut my head off without reason but still have the same rights as 007.
