It’s not often that I find a story that I’m quite sure will make all of you laugh. Enjoy.
“The other white meat” is a registered slogan belonging to the National Pork Board and the trade group won’t put up with unicorn meat sellers using it. The board sent a 12-page cease-and-desist letter to ThinkGeek over its use of the slogan for the canned unicorn meat it offered for sale April 1.
That’s right. Thinkgeek comically started selling “unicorn” meat on April Fool’s Day. Not so funny, thought the National Pork Board, since Thinkgeek called the horned horse “the other white meat”. That is apparently trademark infringement. The cease and desist letter was TWELVE pages long.
A 12-page cease and desist letter against a fictional animal can’t be cheap to put together. Either the NPB has the dumbest or the smartest lawyers alive. Oh it’s the fringes of the bell curve alright…but I’m still trying to figure out which end.
