I can't reach that far

When one makes a judgement in error and is called out for it, it is nice to see him take accountability and change his ways. That’s kind of like what happened here, except not really.

The Dove World Outreach Center, the Gainesville church that has gotten national attention for its incendiary stance against Islam, has backed off its anti-gay message — at least as far as the mayoral race is concerned. After church officials posted a “No homo Mayor” sign last month, it was reported how that political statement could jeopardize their tax-exempt status. To make it clear that the church is still against homosexuality, the sign has since been covered up with a hand-written sign that reads, “No homo.”

Because that clears it up. I’m sure that is what is defined as “back on track” when it comes to the message a church is supposed to relaying to its community. At first we didn’t want a homosexual mayor, but now we realized that that statement was a bit cruel and irresponsible. So we’ve changed the message to be against homosexuals altogether.

“No homo,” of course, is a common refrain among young people theses days. According to the Urban Dictionary, “no homo” is “used after one inadvertently says something that sounds gay.”

Wait, what? Have my ears been off the streets that long? I have never ever heard anyone say, “no homo” after anyone’s statement. In fact the only time I heard it used was by Kanye in “Run This Town Tonight”. And anyway, my guess is that the church is not up to speed on teh latest street lingo. I think “no homo” is the church’s way of saying that they don’t like homosexuals. I guess the church should change it’s name from ‘The Dove World Outreach Center” to “The Dove World (Gays are out of our reach) Center ”

Side Note: What ever happened to saying, “That’s gay” after someone inadvertently says something that sounds gay?

“No homo”? That’s gay.
