Are “scientists” just repeating studies now because they have nothing else to do? Are we that tapped out for scientific data, because this is just getting ridiculous.

Past research has shown that people who are highly neurotic — constantly worried and anxious, and prone to depression — die sooner on average than their chill counterparts. But until now what accounted for the neuroticism-death link had been a mystery. In the new study, researchers analyzed data from nearly 1,800 men who were on average 51 years old in 1975, at the start of the 30-year study.

Really? 30 years? And what did you find out, Mr. Scientists? Why do the neurotic and anxious die sooner?

“It may be the case that smoking and other bad health behaviors help alleviate those feelings of being stressed out, those feelings of worry,” Mroczek told LiveScience. “It may ease those feelings of worry and anxiety, but it may kill you in the end if you stay smoking for say 30 years.”

Smoking kills. I thought everyone agreed on that. Telling us that “it may kill you in the end if you stay smoking for 30 years,” isn’t the groundbreaking report I was hoping for after 30 years of blood, sweat and tears. It’s as if I spent 30 years living in the forest and was then asked what I learned and I responded with, “Leaves are green.” Smoking would kill Jesus after 30 years too.

Biological factors could also play a role in explaining why the seriously stressed die earlier than others, the researchers note.

Ok great, you assholes. So basically you have no idea what you’re talking about. 30 years and we get a “could” thrown in there? We went to the moon in 10 years from thinking about it. These scientists have triple the amount of time and we have a “could also play a role in explaining”. That’s Bush League.
