Nope. You’re Still Really Fat.

Stop kidding yourself.

Stop kidding yourself.

Despite what all those self-help books say, repeating positive statements apparently does not help people with low self-esteem feel better about themselves. In fact, it tends to make them feel worse, according to new research.

I’m totally LOL’ing right now.  This might be my new favorite study ever conducted.

The researchers found that repeating a positive statement did not improve the mood of those who had low self-esteem, as measured by a standard test. They actually ended up feeling worse, and the gap between those with high and low self-esteem widened.

So I guess you can’t fool your own brain.  You really are that fat/stupid/ugly/incompetent and there is nothing you can tell yourself to think otherwise.  The laws of reflection aren’t going to change in front of your mirror just because you’ve been telling yourself, “I’m beautiful, no matter what they say”. (NOTE:  Thank God I’m fucking brilliant and stunning, right?!)

So kudos to you, brain!  It seems like you and logic have teamed up for quite the result this time.  Now if only we can get you to do the same thing in the ring against religion.  WTF.
